Job Description

In the Learning Support Assistant role you will be:
  • Providing personalised support to learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), helping them to engage positively with their education and college life
  • Working alongside tutors and specialist support staff to create an inclusive, supportive and encouraging learning environment
  • Supporting learners to develop independence, confidence and resilience by adapting support to meet their individual needs
  • Assisting with learning activities, including adapting materials, supporting assessments and helping learners achieve their goals
  • Promoting learner wellbeing, inclusion and positive behaviour while maintaining accurate and confidential records
To be successful, you will need:
  • Experience supporting learners in an educational, training or vocational setting, including those with ALN
  • Qualifications within the relevant field, including Supporting Learners with ALN, with a willingness to work towards further development where required
  • Understanding of person-centred approaches and inclusive learning practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient, adaptable and supportive approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with learners, tutors and wider support teams
  • Ability to speak Welsh (conversational to intermediate)
  • Enhanced DBS clearance is essential for this role
This is a temporary position starting at the end of August / beginning of September (initially for the first term), working 32.5 hours per week. You’ll be based in Rhyl, starting on an hourly rate of £13.45 per hour plus benefits.
