Job Description

We’re recruiting a compassionate and resilient Domestic Abuse Refuge Support Worker to join a dedicated team supporting women and families affected by domestic abuse. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by helping individuals rebuild their lives in a safe, supportive refuge environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma-informed one-to-one and practical/emotional support to women and families within refuge accommodation
  • Carry out needs and risk assessments, support planning and safeguarding in line with procedures
  • Build positive, therapeutic relationships while promoting independence, safety and wellbeing
  • Support service users with housing, welfare, legal and multi-agency advocacy (Police, Courts, Social Services etc.)
  • Maintain accurate records, case files and reports using internal systems
  • Ensure refuge accommodation is safe, welcoming and well managed
  • Support access to specialist services including counselling, health, substance misuse and mental health support
  • Participate in on-call rota and respond appropriately to incidents and safeguarding concerns

We are keen to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Experience supporting vulnerable individuals, ideally within domestic abuse or housing support settings
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment and trauma-informed practice
  • Excellent communication, empathy and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work effectively with partner agencies in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Confident IT skills including Microsoft Office and case management systems
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport
  • Able to communicate in Welsh (Written and verbal)
  • Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one

This is a full-time temporary role (35 hours per week) including participation in an on-call rota, based across Anglesey for approximately 8 - 12 weeks initially.  

With a competitive salary equivalent to £25,227 - £27,565 per annum DOE (pro-rata), plus an on call allowance.
