Job Description

Showcase your passion towards helping people in a role that will allow you to contribute to the quality of life for vision impaired veterans.  Blind Veterans UK are looking to recruit a Practice Development Nurse responsible for providing training and support whilst being an effective role model for best practice, audit, and governance.

In the Practice Development Nurse role, you will be:

  • Using the Model of Clinical Excellence, working with the Learning and Development Team to design and deliver clinical skills training across the organisation which meets the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and other legislative requirements
  • A active member of the BVUK Clinical Governance structure, ensure monitoring, and the review of policies and procedures to ensure compliance is always being met
  • Responsible for undertaking regular audits, written accounts of clinical facilitation and updates for training records to ensure evidence of CPD and compliance
  • Responsible for embedding changes to practice supporting developments, national guidance, standards, and updates in legislation
  • Facilitating/sharing training opportunities to assist the care/centre team in developing themselves in accordance with their personal development plan and/or appraisal objectives
  • Work effectively as part of the multi-professional, inter-disciplinary team, encouraging and supporting Centre staff in the promotion and maintenance of an effective learning environment
  • Facilitating the Centre’s training needs and use skilled facilitation to enable staff to change practice through critical and structured reflection
  • Promoting research awareness by disseminating appropriate evidence-based and research findings relevant to the clinical practice area
  • Work closely with local universities and other external education establishments for quality training opportunities
The ideal candidate for the Practice Development Nurse role will have:
 
  • NMC qualified RGN
  • Practice Educator qualification or willing to work towards Teaching/Training qualification
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in working with the Care Standards Act
  • Knowledge and experience in working with CQC or CIW standards
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills with computer literacy/IT
  • Excellent presentation and training skills
  • Proactive communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective relationships
  • Ability to challenge poor practice/performance
  • Ability to motivate/inspire/encourage others
  • Flexible and self-motivated with ability to work autonomously
  • Good research skills
  • Ability to objectively undertake audits and present results
  • Member of a professional body
  • Evidence of own CPD
  • Relevant teaching experience in a Nursing environment
  • Experience in writing policies and procedures
  • Experience in training/teaching, mentoring and assessment
  • Experience of design, delivery, and evaluation of clinical/training programs
  • Able to demonstrate working with external bodies to facilitate training/CPD
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in relation to delivering Care
  • NVQ Assessor’s qualification or willing to undertake training
  • NVQ Internal Verifier qualification or willing to undertake training

This is a permanent, full-time position, offering a salary of £36,207 per annum plus employee benefits including life insurance, generous pension scheme (after three months of service), health cashback scheme (after one year’s service), access to subsidised employee canteen, gym and leisure facilities and an Employee Assistance Programme.
