Job Description

A not for profit, charitable organisation is looking for a Head of Finance in Caernarfon.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will help to shape and build the finance function across reporting, payments, accounts, systems, people, and processes. This is a fantastic role for a highly capable, experienced individual with a background in the charity / not for profit sector who is now looking for flexible hours in a part-time role.

You will need to hit the ground running, taking ownership of all day-to-day accounting, driving monthly management accounts, financial reporting, and becoming a core member of the management team.

As Head of Finance, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and monitoring all of the finance department activity
  • Managing, and supporting the Finance Officer and Finance Manager
  • Producing monthly management reporting accurately and on time, as well as any ad hoc accounting report that is required by the business.
  • Preparation of regular reports for the Chief Executive Officer, Treasurer and Board Members.
  • The day to day management of the accounts function (Accruals, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Payroll, Taxes).
  • Producing annual statutory statements and liaising with external accountants and auditors.
  • Offering regular strategic financial advice to all budget holders
  • Identifying staff training needs

To be a successful Head of Finance, you will have the following skills and experiences:

  • Proven experience of implementing and improving financial and accounting processes, controls and procedures.
  • To hold an ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or equivalent, with a good knowledge of financial and management accounting.
  • Experience working for a not for profit, charitable company and an appreciation of the financial complexities involved.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel and Sage, with an aptitude for embracing new processes and systems.
  • Fluent Welsh written and verbal

In return, you will receive a salary of £30,411.00 to £35,016 per annum pro rata, working 15 hours per week Monday – Friday.
