Job Description
Join a local authority in a role that will offer you new challenges whilst developing your skills within the public sector!  You'll be managing and supporting the flood risk and infrastructure team, delivering statutory duties in accordance with the Flood and Water Management Act across Conwy, North Wales.

As the Flood Risk & Consenting Officer, you will be:
  • Ensuring Conwy fulfil their statutory duties for reviewing applications including discussing applications with landowners, developers, stakeholders and other departments
  • Assisting and advising team members with all land drainage issues and keeping them up-to-date with how these issues are being progressed and ensuring all deadlines for projects and activities are being met
  • Ensuring all Flood Investigations are carried out and reports are completed and published within the deadlines
  • Involved with forming and attending board meetings to approve drainage systems, producing design guidance documents and approval procedures.
  • Assisting with the continued maintenance and management of the CCBC Flood Risk Asset Management System and identifying appropriate maintenance scheduling to critical flood risk assets
  • Project managing flood risk management projects for neighbouring Authorities and acting as a consultee to planning applications received in Conwy regarding flood risk and drainage design
We are keen to see your CV if you have the following skills and experience:
  • Previous demonstrable experience as a Flood Risk Officer or similar at strategic level
  • BTEC HND/HNC in Construction / Civil Engineering or equivalent and /or good Advanced Level passes in Mathematics, English or Welsh and a Science subject
  •  working knowledge of the Flood & Water Management Act, Flood Risk Regulations, Land Drainage Act, Coast Protection Act and Water Framework Directive
  • Extensive understanding of GIS mapping and AutoCad software
  • Good IT skills in the use of MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to produce reports, chair meetings and manage projects
This is role is a temporary position with an hourly rate of £18.00 including holiday pay. It is initially for 12 weeks, and the working times will be 37 hours per week.
