Job Description
A popular tourist attraction dedicated to providing fun and an educational experience for all, is looking for an Assistant Cafe Manager who would provide support to the Cafe Manager and step up to manage the busy cafe in their absence. In this role you will be supervising a team of catering assistants serving drinks, paninis, cakes, and general cafe food.  
 
This is an established tourist activity centre which attracts thousands of visitors yearly and boasts a range of activities and educational talks. This is a full/part-time, permanent position, with an 8 week seasonal break when the attraction is closed for the winter period.
 
As an Assistant Cafe Manager your duties will include:
  • To assist the Cafe Manager in overseeing profitable and efficient catering operations with an excellent standard of customer care
  • To ensure that all staff take breaks in line with company policy and ensure optimum efficiency of the team allowing a rotation of staff to leave early during quiet times.
  • To assist the Cafe Manager to oversee and ensure quality and safe-handling of food preparation and service from all staff.
  • To assist the Cafe Manager in stock management, reporting stock levels and managing stock rotation.
  • To assist the Cafe Manager in the daily reconciliation of the tills and deliver the float and takings to the safe key holder before departure.
  • To assist the Cafe Manager to ensure that Health and Safety and Food Hygiene is adhered to by staff at all times.
We are keen to see your CV if you have the following skills or experience:
  • A passion for food preparation and cooking
  • Good customer service skills
  • Food Hygiene and COSHH understanding (although training would be provided)
  • Some chef/cooking experience
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
  • To be well organised and able to follow regulations
In return, the Assistant Cafe Manager will receive a minimum hourly pay rate of £8.50 per hour dependent on experience. This can be either a full or part-time, permanent position with flexible working either 4/5 days a week, with 8 weeks off over the winter period.
