Children’s Residential Worker Job, Colwyn Bay, North Wales

Do you have a desire to work with children and their families? Would you like to work within a large public sector organisation? As our client’s preferred supplier, we have an exciting opening for an experienced worker to work within a fast paced, team environment on a temporary basis of a minimum of 3 months.

In the Children’s Residential Worker Job, Colwyn Bay, North Wales you will be: 
  • Undertaking the role of key worker to individual children/young people, as appropriate
  • Implementing individual casework / group work outlined in the care & placement plans
  • Undertaking sleep-in duties work unsociable hours and complete live / waking nights duties to meet the individual or group needs of children and young people
  • Participating in the development and implementation of programmes for young people that assist them to address presenting problems and behavioural issues
  • Maintaining records, producing clear written reports and informing colleagues of developments, for example, during handover
  • Participating in staff and other professional meetings and provide verbal and written reports when required
To be considered for the Children’s Residential Worker Job, Colwyn Bay, North Wales you must have:
  • Demonstrable experience of working with individual young people who may present challenging behaviours and their families
  • An understanding of residential child care practices and the signs/symptoms of abuse
  • Knowledge of the Children Act and Care Standards
  • An ability to deal with difficult encounters and critical situations and apply appropriate / innovative strategies in dealing with anger, stress and upset
  • Previous experience making accurate assessments, decisions/recommendations and contributing to meetings
  • Ability to undertake activities involving manual handling and/or restrictive physical intervention
Please note, the ability to work unsociable hours and be flexible to the changing needs is essential for this post. 

This is a full time vacancy working 37 hours per week for a temporary period of a minimum of 3 months. The role is based in Mochdre,  Colwyn Bay and is on an hourly pay rate of £8.21 - £10.00 per hour depending on skills and experience PLUS any accrued holiday time whilst on the assignment.
